So this is good bye.

Some inspiration.

Strong characters should wear strong clothes.
Like this...

Always moving and hurrying...

Where ever I turn in Milan I always find people. Most frequent on the way somewhere. Busy hurrying, from work, to work, or maybe to the obligatory Apertivo that always comes after a day full of work.

Do you see the contrast between these pictures and the ones of Gothenburg in the previous post?

Then I also want to mention the clothes. Boring. Nothing else but boring. How come people so full of life and movement dress like this?

So, thats what my project tool its inspiration from. Strong people need strong clothes.

Sleepy Gothenburg...

Remember that I told you that I would show you pictures of my hometown, so better understand why I think Milano is so full of movement and life?
So here we go!

City theatre.

Gothenburgs Navigli seastyle?

Its so quiet you can almost sense it through the picture.

A central sleepy street in old town a friday evening.

Kungsportavenyn. Probably the heart of gothenburg.
Sunday afternoon.

Kungsportsavenyn viewed from downtown perspective.

A central fish church a wednesday afternoon.

Brunnsparken. One of the most central squares in Gothenburg.
Deserted...

When it all suddenly seems to be very clear...

So what do I mean by all this? Hearbeats? Crowded dusty streets? pictures of everything and nothing?

Just making a movieclip and adding it to my blog wouldnt view my purpose from the right perspective. I didnt want to make movieclips because it wouldnt come natural if I went around with my camera in the bars/cafés/restaurants/streets etc. I didnt either want to act like some nightlife photographer taking pictures of people in a resturant. But of course to show what I mean I ve published a couple of photos in this post.

The important thing for me has been to view the details that makes it all. And if I base my collection on strong personalities? People full of life. How else can I project the spirits of it here if not with photos of for instance of the things that I think make you the way you are.

Like for instance the things Milano has, and those things that from my point of view is important for Milano, and by that becomes the result of how people acts. Take La scala, piazza duomo, Navigli, Porta Ticinese, Corso Como and so on... Would you people be the same without all this? Would Milan be Milan? From my point of view the answer in No.

So thats why I ve been taking pictures of objects, statues and so on. Not because the architecture inspires me that much. (Well there are a few amazing places/buildings, but I ve already mentioned them) But because all those small and big things in the end is the foundation of everything...and by that also the foundation ground of the hearbeat and life of Milano.
As I mentioned before what amazes me the most about this city is the warmth and energy of the people. You are so open and warm compared to swedes in general...

I do have a problem though... A problem that I ll base my design on in my collection.
The problem is your clothes... Well I dont mean that there are no elegant people. Neither am I trying to say that ALL the people dress boring in Milan. I m especially not talking about our school. Since everybody are going to work with something esthetic our school is full of extravagant people. I m talking about how people look in general, and how big the contrast is for me when I see a person full of life, geastures, mimic and so on dressed like a grey mouse...
I would even go so far with this, that I would say that this amazing person deserves clothes that are comparable to her/his personality. That is, as shining, warm and extravagant.

I think that the personality should be projected by the clothes!

I understand that Milano is a "working city"/ "industrial city". Thats why I m goig to play with contrasts. Stylish, elegant with a touch of edge. And the edge will in my collection symbolize the personalities. So its has to be qiuet extravagant and big!

Life.

I found this in MILAN!!!!

More Giardini Publici. Where people come to peace.

So what makes people in Milan so full of life and energy? What do you live of?

I mean, as far as I know Milan isnt the most beautiful city on earth. Well not known for it anyway. I ve already benn mentioning some things, mostly places full off people and life. Places that fascinates me...

This time I want to show places that keeps you all going. I mean beautiful places that makes Milan the city it is, and by that also the Milan that makes people the way they are here. Because everything comes down to the same thing in the end.

Milan makes the people, and the people also makes Milan.

So here is some heartbeats...

Feeling the morning pulse

When you talk about the city that never sleeps you usually mean NY. But as we were told in the beginning of this project I ve been basing my photos and posts on my own experience. And compared to Sweden, and in generally Gothenburg, I have to say; Milan goes to bed really late, and wakes up even earlier...
So you guys (school leading) gave us the friday and saturday off. Based on a riot from almost all first year students. ;)
I decided to make the market on Pta Romana the first stop this morning. I ve been there before, and also on the one in san Ambroggio, but those times I didnt bring my camera. And besides this one is by far the best one close to my house.
Actually I have to admitt I didnt buy anything except for some bread for my parents. (they are visiting me this very week, and the obviously have a thing for ciabatta)
-Back to the market.
Besides from the one thing I actually did buy I was walking around like a lost turist among all the tables filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, sausages, fish, clothes and of course a lot of garbage.
As I expected there was a lot of people hurrying through the stands with bags filled of all kinds of food despite the early morning.
What still amazes is that everyone here is so full of energy and life. People are so emotional. They talk loud gesticulating frenetic like they re talking about something that concerns life or death. Well at least it seemd like that to me. I was actually almost having a stroke a couple of times when the sellers were shouting out the offers of the day. But now when I think about it I just love it and want to be a part of it. And I prefer it that way, especially much rather than deadly silence. Swedes never talk in a loud voice, if they re not drunk or very, very, upset that is.
The next stop was Santa Maria delle Grazie to see the Last supper. But I ll tell you all about it in my next post. I ll even tell you about my visit in Teatro alla Scala for the Ballet of Romeo and Juliet. Stay tuned ;)
lots of love!

Breathing in.

The lovely sunday afternoon weather.

Milan 's breathing pink sunset.

Corso Buenos Aires. Crowded despite the late hour.

Central station. Happy people.

A lost rose petal

Last sunday made me realize even more why I chose to do my project about the eternal life of Milano.

The weather was lovely.. The sunset, the pink sky and all the people walking the streets this late sunday evening, despite the fact that all shops were closed hours ago. The city was so full of life.

That is Milans heartbeat to me. The puls thats going to inspire my final collection/ examination project...

Today is the day...

I have to admitt that I was a bit tired of Milan when I came back a couple of days before new years... I got even more tired when school started and I was in my bed with fever... It was so hard getting back on track.. Even harder to appreciate the things that fascinated me about Milan before I went back to Sweden for the holidays. Well those I told you about in my last post. I just couldnt pace with the rythm of Milan...
BUT. I also had loads of fun before I got ill and all that nonsens. Even if most of the people from Milan seem to evacuate the city during the days before-, and on new years eve!
Here is the proof for you doubters!

Piazza Duomo Monday 02 a.m. Dinner at the Globe here on piazza 5 Giornate

(notice that its not completely empty despite the late hour)

Not everybody let Milan down...Some people even came here especially to celebrate new years!

Dinner at the Globe. The magic of La Scala...

...About today

This day was the first day I felt that feeling again.. My love for this city, the culture of it and the people... Maybe it took a while but this feeling was worth waiting for! Even with all the traffic and noise this city is so beautiful, in its own special way...

The weather is lovely.. ( in Sweden we see the blue sky last time in the end of August, and then after that in April again. If we re really lucky that is!)

We re having sunshine for the third day now... I walked up on Viale Montenero. A street thats connecting porta Romana and piazza Cinque Giornate... A quiet boring street with traffic, tram trails and/but a lot of different restaurants and bars.

It seems like people here doesnt notice all the noise from cars or buses. They doesnt see the dirt on the sidewalks.. Doesnt hear drivers blow their horns and yell something in italian to each other.. They just smile take another sip from their espressos as nothing in the whole world could ruin them enjoyning this lovely afternoon...

...And this is what inspires me and what I love about this city!

So basically what I m telling you is that I ll be back to the ME that u all are use to! ( And that you all love I hope)
